Museums on the Park

Today was Pierce's final day at his two week "Adventures in Science" day camp at the American Museum of Natural History devoted to answering the question "What Happened to the Neanderthal?" The kids worked with scientists specializing in Neanderthal DNA, physiology, culture, hunting, ice age climate, flora and fauna. Then they hypothesized answers to the question backed with evidence they had learned about. Before attending Pierce's final presentation in the afternoon, Deirdre and I had breakfast in Central Park and then proceeded across the park to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. After wandering around the museum for the morning and having lunch there, we trekked back across the park to the AMNH in time to see Pierce's presentation.

Deirdre and I reflected in an architectural installation by Dan Graham on the rooftop of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
