Ravel's Paris

We spent a wintery afternoon at the second of the New York Philharmonic Young People's Concert series featuring Ravel's Paris. Once again we were entertained and educated with Delta David Grier as Conductor and Host. Ravel's "Dawn," Satie's "Gymnopedie No.1," and Stravinsky's "Infernal Dance of King Kashchei" were our favorite compositions of the afternoon. It was interesting to learn that the trombone glissando in the Stravinsky piece was revolutionary in serious music at the time. Pierce's pet Tarsier enjoyed the afternoon as much as we did!
